Lorenzo Morabito: Crafting the London Sound

From London Roots to Double Bass Virtuoso

Lorenzo Morabito, born in London to Italian parents, has swiftly become one of the most sought-after double bassists on the UK jazz scene. His impeccable timing, articulate soloing, and versatility across jazz subgenres have made him a first-call musician for numerous prominent artists and ensembles. Currently, Lorenzo is collaborating with some of the top jazz musicians in both the UK and Europe, showcasing his exceptional talent and growing influence in the jazz world.

Despite his youth, Lorenzo has already carved out a significant place in London's competitive jazz landscape. His musical journey is a testament to his remarkable adaptability and dedication to the craft. From paying homage to the sophisticated repertoire of the legendary Modern Jazz Quartet with the Nat Steele Quartet to exploring gypsy jazz with the London Django Collective, Lorenzo's bass lines form the backbone of diverse jazz expressions. His collaborations span traditional jazz ensembles to more contemporary projects, demonstrating both a deep respect for jazz tradition and an eye toward its future development.

What sets Lorenzo apart is his exceptional ability to elevate the performances of his collaborators. His technical excellence, combined with an innate musical sensitivity, allows him to adapt seamlessly to various ensemble configurations and acoustic environments. Lorenzo's rapid professional ascension, particularly notable during the challenging pandemic period, further distinguishes him from many contemporaries. His growing discography, including significant collaborations and original compositions, showcases a creative force extending beyond interpretation into original expression.

Lorenzo maintains an active performance schedule across London's most prestigious jazz venues and festivals. He continues to work with renowned artists such as Renato D'Aiello, Giacomo Smith, and Andrea Rinciari, while also being a key member of the Nat Steele Quartet.
